Cannes

Cannes is situated in the south east of France, 20 miles from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, 40 miles from Monaco and 48 miles from the Italian border.

The Mediterranean coast here is called “Côte d’Azur” which means “The sky blue coast”. Its name is synonymous with good weather (the average daytime temperature in winter is 60 degrees), sun and relaxation. Because of its position and dynamism, Cannes is the second city of the world to host Congresses. As tourism developed during the 18th Century, a row of palaces was built on this main avenue called La Croisette.

These palaces welcomed royalties from all countries for more than a century, from the Russian Czars to the British royalty, as well as all the stars with big names or the ones with no names, trying to make one for them. And since 1998, Cannes hosts the Perfumers of the world during the World Perfumery Congress. Cannes offers an array of great restaurants, for all budgets and tastes.

One of the main attractions is also the famous Marché Forville, a one hundred year old produce market. Here, one can find fresh produce, flowers, meat, fish, locally produced olives and olive oils, local honeys, homemade bakery and breads, in short, one can find the Essence of Provence. We recommend that you visit the market very early in the morning, around 5:00 am or 6:00 am, when the neighboring grocers and restaurateurs come to purchase their goodies for the day. The atmosphere and the millions of smells will stay embedded in your memory forever.
